A carpet clean goes better when the house is ready for it. Not because the operator expects you to do their work, but because the time spent shifting your belongings is time not spent cleaning, and because a few small decisions on the day noticeably affect the result.

Here is a practical checklist.

The week before

Confirm what is being cleaned. Walk the house and decide room by room. Hallways and stairs are easy to forget and are usually the dirtiest areas in the house.

Point out problem areas in advance. If there is a pet accident spot, an old red wine mark or a patch that smells after rain, mention it when booking rather than on the day. Ask about drying. Find out the expected drying time so you can plan the day, especially if you have pets or small children who need somewhere to be.

The day before
