Spirit Airlines is increasing its footprint in South Carolina by introducing new flights from Charleston to Boston and New York City in the upcoming spring season. Members of the airline's annual paid membership program, the Saver$ Club, enjoy discounts on additional services. Spirit has implemented a status-matching service that allows passengers to get similar benefits for a charge.

Spirit Airlines has confirmed to phrazle that starting from April 10, they would provide more flights connecting Charleston International Airport with both Boston Logan International Airport and New York's LaGuardia Airport. The newly introduced flights will be in operation every day.

"Charleston's historical landmarks, thriving culinary scene, and picturesque beaches have established it as a highly sought-after leisure destination in the United States. Spirit Airlines' newly introduced daily nonstop flights provide a convenient and cost-effective option for travelers from Boston and New York to experience all that the city has to offer this spring," stated John Kirby, the vice president of network planning at Spirit Airlines, as reported by T+L. "In order to celebrate our first anniversary in Charleston this April, we will be increasing our schedule to include five direct flights. This will allow our CHS guests to have more options for traveling to two major metropolitan areas in the northeast."

Aside from the newly added flights, Spirit Airlines already offers services to Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, and Newark from Charleston, which has been recognized as the top city in the United States by readers of T+L. The airline began operations from the renowned South Carolina city last year.

The choice to increase its Charleston service follows a ruling by a federal court that halted a highly-discussed merger between the airline and JetBlue. This combination would have resulted in the airline being the fifth biggest carrier in the United States. The federal court in Massachusetts deemed the merger illegal after a 17-day trial due to its violation of antitrust regulations.
